Why not try something new for 2020 and earn some CPD points whilst enjoying the sunshine and scenery by cycling in Mallorca?
BAOS are offering a five day cycling trip which includes two 40-minute talks.
When is the trip?
Wednesday 29 April to Sunday 3 May 2020.
Full days cycling on Thursday-Saturday with CPD talks before dinner.
Wednesday and Sunday – guided cycling available depending on your flight times.
What is guided cycling?
We divide ourselves into groups depending on how much of the day you want to be out cycling (and how far/fast you want to go), and then an expert ride leader plans a route and cycles with you. Everything is taken care of so there is no map reading, no getting lost and the guide knows all the best places to stop for coffee/cake/lunch…so you can just enjoy the riding!
The trip is being organised in conjunction with Adam and his team at Mallorca Cycling who have years of experience in this field. Check out their website www.mallorcacycling.co.uk
Who is the trip aimed at?
The intention is to cater for most cycling abilities – you don’t have to be a Bradley Wiggins or Geraint Thomas! As long as you can ride a road bike, you pick the group that will best suit you. You can even hire an electric road bike if you fancy some assistance!
If you don’t want to cycle and would prefer to explore Mallorca by hiring a car or just chill at the hotel this is an option and at a discounted rate!
What is the CPD element?
There will be two 40 minute talks held before dinner in a conference room at our hotel. BAOS President Professor Paul Coulthard is planning to talk about implant related topics that will be of interest whether or not you place implants, Dr Suk Ng is a consultant radiologist at Kings who is going to give practical advice on interpreting CBCTs, and Nick Smith is a consultant orthodontist who will talk about orthodontic matters that he wished oral surgeons knew! The lecture topics are currently being finalised and CPD points will be applied for. Talks will be relevant whether you work in primary or secondary care.
Where are we staying?
Puerto Pollensa is in the north east of Mallorca, and we are staying at the 4* Pollensa Park Spa hotel. This has 2 pools, spa, gym, and a secure indoor storage room for bikes, and is very close to the beach as well as shops and bars. We will be staying half board, with a buffet breakfast and dinner.
